My roommate is turning into a wild child
One Friday I decided to have a movie night with some friends, we were up untill 3am. One of my friends lived right across the hall from me so we walked back to our dorms together. I couldnt help but hear a lot of loud talking and laughing coming from my room, and I could hear boys. Since we're freshmen we cant have the opposite sex in our room after a certain time. I walked in the room to notice several cans of beer and bottles of liquor all over my side of the room. She had these boys in there that werent even students at our school. I told every body to leave but the boys stayed. One boy she didnt even know was 21 and he was the one who brought the drinks and was also drunk. When I asked him to leave he started yelling, cursing and even threatened me. I was terrified and extremely upset. My roommate has been my "best" friend since 8th grade, and didnt even take me or my feelings into consideration at all. I even confronted her and she denied everything! Now she walks around all pissed off at me and talks about me to her "new" friends all the time, although I did NOTHING wrong in the first place. Please Help Me.

Am I In the Friends Zone?
So, I've been seeing this guy for a few weeks now he's great, he isn't what I'm use to.. He asked me a lot of questions about having a future with him and if i really wanted to be with him.. He told me that he isn't going anywhere.. but we had our first argument earlier this week, and he started pulling away a little bit I told him to come over so he did and I just made sure I was looking really good all for him and that put things back on track. But, I'm a little nervous cause I'm not sure what we are, a part of me believes we are together because of his actions as well as he always asks me for my approval when he wants to go hang out with his friends or pretty much with anything.. I'm a little nervous to ask what our status is cause I don't want to push him away but I also don't want to get put into the just friends category.. what do I do?

Quite an interesting post! Ever weondred what your handholding signals to people who happen to see you hold hands? That question was the central one answered in my thesis research, which will soon be published in Communication Research Reports. Bodie, G. D., & Villaume, W. A. (in press). Men and women holding hands revisited: Effects of mutual engagement and hand dominance on attributtions of cross-sex handholding. Communication Research Reports.Participants were asked to view a set of 12 photographs that displayed several variations of handholding behavior between one man and one woman. The pictures only showed from the elbows down. After each picture, participants rated the intimacy of the couple and their perceptions of who was “more powerful.” Results showed that couples engaged in coalescent handholding (aka Intertwined Fingers ) were viewed as having a more intimate relationship than those engaged in “the passive handhold”; each of these types of handholding were seen as more intimate than “the one-finger handhold.”In terms of power, participants attributed more relational power to the individual whose hand was on top. In other words, outside observers attribute more power to one relational partner simply based on how the hands are positioned during handholding!Although there were several other interesting findings (and this one study is not a definitive statement of handholding attributions), this was the crux of the piece. While my research does NOT suggest that couples who hold hands in particular ways ARE more or less intimate or that their relational power structure IS a particular way, it does suggest that others who view your handholding make judgments about your relationship. If you’re interested in reading and/or critiquing this research, let me know at gbodie@lsu.edu.

i personally hate it. well ecplsialey nowsome people (like me!!) dont tell their friends who they like- which so happens to be the same person your friend likes.personally, why is he reserved for her? i mean she never talks to him (ok once but that was like 40 seconds and the other 2 times were her talking to his friend and he was there)he doesnt even like our group of friends and i think i have a better chance with him(1- shes kinda a wanna be or tries too hard2- i knew him for 4 years3- no offense, im a little prettier than her (she even admits it!) sorry :04- shes too scared to talk to him )like really? no i say its bad if they just broke up and shes not over it OR if theyre really close to almost going out/hooking up
