My guy is better over text than in person

Here's our take on the whole issue:
It's quite possible that this guy is actually just super shy in person rather than disinterested. So it makes sense that he's super flirty over text and IM where he doesn't have to see you face to face. As you two get to know each other better, he'll be able to let his guard down in person also. Try to stay away from dates like going to the movies and opt for something more involved where you two can actually do something together. There are a ton of out-of-the-box options that take the pressure off of you two and transfer it onto something you're working on or learning with each other (like volunteering somewhere, going to a cooking or craft class, going dancing). It's a great icebreaker and will let you share an experience rather than just sitting and talking. It requires a tad bit more work but it's well worth it! Good luck.
