DWTS Drama
What do you think?
Nicole Scherzinger, lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls, is getting a lot of mileage out of her stilettos these days. (No–there’s no pole involved. Save your singles for your college fund.) Thanks to a successful collaboration with DWTS pro Derek Hough, striking Scherzinger’s been enjoying strong marks as a contestant on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars. And we can’t believe we’re saying this, but did you see their Viennese Waltz? BUT.TAH.
Check out Moonit’s assessment of another DWTS contender
Anyway, since these two have been blowing the doors off DWTS, and the media assumes that any couple with a scrap of onscreen chemistry must be in the midst of a secret, torrid, ZOMG-they’re-totally-doing-it affair, the rumor mill’s picking up speed. Scherzinger’s reportedly committed to race car driver Lewis Hamilton, but that scoundrel Hough is no stranger to dating his DWTS co-stars. (*cough* Shannon Elizabeth *cough*) By our standards, this could mean one of two things: either he really likes hooking up with willowy, sexy brunettes, or he’s got great taste in beards.
Anyway, Nicole’s been striking down the rumors on (what else?) Twitter: “Been reading the net & seeing the craziest stories… Derek is like a little brother 2 me… Everyone knows how in luv & committed I am 2 Lewis.” In fact, Scherzinger intimated that she and Derek are like, “two old jolly sailors chumming around.”* But doth the DWTS star protest too much? Will that rapscallion Hough steal her fragile heart? And could we be any more ridiculously melodramatic? (Ahem.) Leave it to Moonit to suss out whether Nicole’s boyfriend can breathe easy, or if he should be shaking in his Formula One boots…
According to Moonit’s birth date analysis, Nicole (born on June 29, 1978) and Lewis (born on Jan 7, 1985) fit “like a glove.” Says Moonit, “we hope you’re ready to settle down with your soul mate because you’ve definitely found him. He’s someone you finally understand on a really deep level–even with all his profound craziness!”
See what Moonit says about your relationships
Their reading goes on to say that, “not only can you actually be yourselves around each other, but when you’re together–and you’ll want to be together all the time–everything is a thousand times cooler, so you’ll find your lives can become easily intertwined.” Moonit’s assessment even indicates that, “this synergy also extends to your finances, so you’ll be able to afford adventures and generate some extra cash to boot.” And urges the two to, “start that project together! Pop out a few kids! It’ll likely be the best thing you’ve ever done, mostly because you’re doing it together.”
On the flip side, Nicole’s relationship with Derek (born on May 17, 1985) has potential, but it would take some serious legwork to keep things healthy; “he’s not afraid to ask for help, and she’s really good at dishing it out, telling it like it is with her ‘tough love’ ways.” Yeah. When you’ve got perfection in one hand and “meh” in the other, the choice is pretty clear. We think Nicole’s more capable of keeping things professional on-set. Just keep dazzling us with your Rumba, and we’ll let Hough off the hook.
* Get it? “Chumming?” Like the bait sailors use? To fish with?…Eh. Don’t quit your multi-million-dollar night job, Scherzinger.
What others are saying ›
I think that it wad unfair to put Bristol on a show with “stars” and hold her to the same level of nfceormapre as actual performers. But that’s the way the show works. It’s also unfair to put Florence Henderson (age 76) in competition with people who are less than a third of her age, in a competition that relies so much on physical skills. But Henderson knew what she was getting into, she chose to do it. So did Palin. Once you agree to be on the show, you are expected to aim for professional standards, regardless of your background.Of course, the fan votes can obviously undermine the judges’ emphasis on professional standards. We’ve seen that occur more than once; this just happens to be a particularly emphatic example. I have nothing against Bristol Palin (her mom is a different story, but it’s not her fault who her mom is!), but she is really not up to that standard and should have been eliminated long before now. I’m relieved that the final outcome did reflect some real sense of the standards of the craft, and not just a popularity contest.
